Boghead Bridge Road emergency closure
Date published:
Following reports of damage to Boghead Road Bridge, Lower Ballinderry, DfI engineers attended the site and identified damage affecting the bridge structure. In the interests of public safety, the decision has been taken to close a section of Boghead Bridge Road with immediate effect.
Engineers are currently carrying out detailed structural assessments to fully understand the extent of the damage and to determine the most appropriate solution.
Once these assessments are complete, the Department will be in a better position to provide further information on the proposed works and associated timescales.
Local diversions are in place via the U1005 Diamond Lane, C10 Brankinstown Road and U1004 (Off Brankinstown Road), and the travelling public is urged to follow the signage, drive with due care and attention, and allow extra time for their journeys.
The Department acknowledges that this closure will cause local disruption and delays and apologises for any inconvenience caused; however, the safety of all road users remains the Department’s primary concern.
