Ballymaconaghy Road realignment scheme commences
Date published:
A developer road realignment scheme has commenced at Ballymaconaghy Road, Castlereagh. Works will be ongoing until the end of November.
The road realignment is a result of planning conditions for a major housing scheme at the site and will realign the upper part of Ballymaconaghy Road to create a right turn pocket into the development. This will improve safety in the area with the addition of footways, street lights and pedestrian crossing facilities.
A road closure will be in operation for three months to allow phase one of the scheme to be completed. Diversions have been put in place and are signed on approach to the scheme.
The work has been programmed and traffic management arrangements put in place to minimise inconvenience, however, road users should expect delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
The completion of the work by the end of November is subject to favourable weather conditions and further closures may be required, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
