    Consultation description

The consultation focuses on three key areas:

    • introducing a power for immediate suspension of an instructor’s registration in order to safeguard pupils, for example, where the police have decided that there is a public protection risk and have disclosed relevant information to the Registrar
    • changing the legislation to enable instructors to request voluntary removal from the Register
    • considering options to enable instructors who have voluntarily left the Register, or whose registration has lapsed for a period, to rejoin the Register without having to re-sit the full qualifying examination.
