Consultation description
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI), being of the opinion that the road is not necessary for road traffic, gives notice of its intention to make an Order under Article 68 of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993, the effect of which would be, after completion of such works as the Department considers necessary to provide alternative facilities, to abandon an area of 608 square metres of former road at Comber Road, Dundonald comprising of two plots—
• 46 square metres adjacent to No. 1 Peartree Hill (Plot 1); and
• 562 square metres adjacent to No. 327 Comber Road, extending in a south-easterly direction towards the junction with Peartree Hill (Plot 2). It will also stop-up to motor vehicles, four lengths of former road at Comber Road, Dundonald comprising—
• 26.8 metres outside No. 1 Peartree Hill;
• 6.8 metres extending in a south-westerly direction;
• 6.6 metres outside No. 327 Comber Road; and
46.5 metres extending in a south-easterly direction.
Inspecting the proposal
The areas of road proposed to be abandoned and the lengths to be stopped-up are delineated on a map which, together with a copy of a draft Order, may be inspected free of charge during office hours within the period 21 January 2026 to 2 March 2026 at DfI TRAM Eastern Division, Hydebank House, 4a Hospital Road, Ballydollaghan, Belfast, BT8 8JL or viewed online at www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/consultations
Inspection of the draft Order and map is by appointment only which can be arranged either by email using the email address below or by telephone during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) on 0300 200 7899.
