The Department for Infrastructure (DfI), being of the opinion that the road is not necessary for road traffic, gives notice of its intention to make an Order under Article 68 of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 entitled The Circular Road, Newtownards (Abandonment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026.

Consultation description
The effect of the Order would be to abandon an area of 516 square metres of road and footway located on Circular Road, Newtownards adjacent to the Strangford Arms Hotel commencing at its junction with Church Street and continuing for a distance of 58 metres in a southerly direction.
Inspecting the proposal
The length of road to be abandoned is delineated on a map which, together with a copy of a draft Order, may be inspected free of charge during office hours within the period 18 June 2026 to 29 July 2026 at-

Inspection of the draft Order and map is by appointment only which can be arranged either by email using the email address below, or by telephone on 0300 200 7899 during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.).
