Strategic Planning Group (SPG)

The Strategic Planning Group is a forum for engagement between senior officials in the Department and the 11 councils to support the effective operation of the 2-tier planning system and is chaired by the Chief Planner.

The group provides a formal mechanism for constructive liaison between the Department and local government on planning matters of mutual interest and concern.  Meetings are held quarterly and have helped to strengthen the relationship between the two tiers of government, and allow key decision-makers from central and local government to come together to discuss and develop joined-up solutions to improve the delivery of planning functions.

Minutes of the Strategic Management Group meetings are available from the link below.
