    Topics:
    • Ports

    Date published: 14 September 2026

The Strangford and Portaferry Harbour Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2026 replace the existing 1988 Byelaws. The update modernises the regulatory framework, reflecting how the harbour is used today and aligning controls with current safety, operational, and legal responsibilities of the Department for Infrastructure.

These Byelaws relate to the embarkation and disembarkation of vehicles and passengers on and from the Strangford Lough Ferry Service the conduct of passengers and drivers of vehicles, as well as the requirements to be observed by vessels using the Harbour areas at Portaferry and Strangford prohibiting certain activities.
