Request to the Department for Infrastructure to initiate a Harbour Order

The Department for Infrastructure is responsible for making Harbour Orders.
The purposes for which a Harbour Order may be required are set out in Schedule 1 of the Harbours Act (NI) 1970 and Schedule 2 of the Act sets out further provisions in respect of Harbour Orders.
Any Statutory Harbour Authority (SHA) seeking to apply for a new Harbour Order should first contact the Department’s Gateways branch for guidance on the process. Applicants are also advised to consult the information available on the ‘Harbour Orders’ webpage.
Following consultation with the Gateways branch, Statutory Harbour Authorities may complete the attached form if they wish to proceed with an application to initiate the Harbour Order Process.
