Environmental Statement : Notice to Proceed - York Street Interchange

The Department for Infrastructure having complied with Article 67A(7) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 (“the 1993 Order”) hereby gives notice in accordance with the provisions of Article 67A(8) and (9) of its intention to proceed with the proposed York Street Interchange Scheme.
The general effect of the Scheme will be to provide a new grade separated junction at York Street to provide direct links between the Westlink and the M2 and M3 motorways. In addition to the construction of over and underpasses, landscaping will be carried out to improve the appearance of the road and lessen the visual impact of the proposed project.
Documents containing–
- the content of the decision;
- a description of the main measures to avoid, reduce and, if possible, offset the major adverse effects of the project;
- information about the consultation carried out in compliance with Articles 67A(8) and 67B, the representations received on consultation, and any changes made as a result of those representations; and
- the Inspector’s Report on inquiries held into the proposal,
may be inspected by any person, free of charge, at all reasonable times during the period from 21 November 2016 to 6 January 2017 at the following offices of the Department:

In accordance with Article 67BA(1) of the 1993 Order, anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Department’s decision to proceed with the scheme on the ground that—
(a) it is not within the powers of the 1993 Order; or
(b) any requirement of Part V of the 1993 Order has not been complied with in relation to the decision
may, before 6 January 2017, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
