Date published: 07 February 2018

The former Minister for Infrastructure was committed to increasing the level of active travel and strongly supported improving health and wellbeing for everyone across the region. In this draft Belfast Bicycle Network consultation document, the Minister set out his plans to develop a quality bicycle infrastructure for Belfast.

The Department conducted a public consultation exercise on the Draft Belfast Bicycle Network 2017 between 23 January 2017 and 13 April 2017. This report on that consultation was published on 7 February 2018.

The Department conducted a public consultation on the Draft Bicycle Network in early 2017. This collation of the responses to the consultation provides detail on points raised by respondents.  Further work is now underway to revise the proposals, taking account of the issues raised.  Any decision on the final Belfast Bicycle Network will be for the consideration of a future Minister for Infrastructure.

Development of the bicycle infrastructure in Belfast continues, most recently along Middlepath Street where work has started on a segregated cycle lane.
