The decision to apply the revised ARWTN technical guidance within the NI planning system is to provide a robust and proportionate framework for assessing and rating operational noise from individual wind turbines and wind farms. As noted above, it is a targeted update and replacement for the original document, ETSU-R-97 ‘The Assessment and Rating of Noise from Wind Farms’.
