Sustainable Drainage has secured £15 million from the Public Sector Transformation Fund, over the next four years, to pilot the development, delivery and operation of different nature-based drainage and flood management interventions.
The pilot project is based on an approach adopted by Severn Trent Water, where £76m was invested to deliver a range of SuDS projects across the town of Mansfield, in England. The aim of the project is to provide 10,000m3 of temporary rainwater storage through nature-based features, to slow the flow of water into sewers and rivers thus reducing sewage spills and flood risk.
