The scheme will involve the resurfacing of a 1.8 kilometre stretch of the C372 Carsonstown Road from the A7 Crossgar Road to a point approximately 100 metres past the Green Road junction.

The Minister said:

“This £170,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Saintfield area and will deliver significant improvements to the strength and road surface quality of this stretch of carriageway.

"Improving transport connections along roads while maintaining a network which is fit for purpose is a priority for the Executive. This scheme plays a part in achieving this priority.”

To facilitate this resurfacing work a temporary road closure is currently in place from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm until Friday 23 December 2016. The road will be open to traffic over-night and on Sundays.

The Diversion route will be signed with traffic being diverted via the A7 Crossgar Road and B6 Station Road.

TransportNI aims to keep disruptions to a minimum, however, delays should be expected and drivers are asked to be patient and allow additional time when planning journeys in the area whilst the road improvements are being carried out.

The above work is subject to favourable weather conditions and TransportNI will keep the public informed of any change.
