    Date published: 2 October 2020

A £165,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the Highfield Grove is due to commence on Saturday 10 October 2020.

This improvement scheme, which extends a distance of approximately 470 metres between the A3 Central Way and Highfield Road junctions, includes resurfacing of the carriageway and upgrading of road drainage.

Due to the nature of the scheme it will be necessary to operate an overnight road closure each night between the hours of 7.00 pm and 6.00 am from Saturday 10 October to Friday 23 October 2020. During these times a diversion will be in place for vehicles wishing to access Marlborough Retail Park. Diversion routes will be signed using the A3 Central Way, A3 Northway, Highfield Road and A27 Mandeville Road.

The road will be open to traffic in the daytime during the week and weekends and local access for deliveries and emergency services will be maintained at all times during the works.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

Completion of the work by 23 October 2020 is dependent on favourable weather conditions. The Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
