The Department has today issued a revised Development Plan Practice Note 06: Soundness (Version 2/May 2017).
This supersedes the practice note of April 2015.
Like the original, the revised practice note focuses on the key requirements for soundness of local development plans. Primarily, paragraph 4.1 has been amended to make clear that a development plan document submitted for independent examination has no presumption of soundness in legislation. Furthermore, paragraphs 1.2, 4.4 and 5.4.8 have been amended, new footnotes 1 and 10 have been added and footnote 11 (formerly 9) in reference to the Strategic Planning Policy Statement has been amended.
The and other practice notes can be accessed in the Planning Guidance section.
