  • Recruitment competition for two Non-Executive Members to the Board of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority

    Topics:
    • Ports

    Date published: 30 May 2025

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a recruitment campaign to appoint two Non-Executive Members to the Board of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority.

Warrenpoint Harbour is one of the north’s main commercial ports.  Its geographic position constitutes a major strategic advantage located halfway on the main strategic network of the Belfast to Dublin economic corridor. The Warrenpoint Harbour Authority Orders of 1971 and 2002 conferred powers on the Authority to preserve, improve and manage the Port of Warrenpoint.

    Minister Kimmins said:

“These key posts offer an excellent opportunity for individuals to make a valued contribution to the management and continued growth of one of the north’s main commercial ports. I would encourage anyone who considers that they meet the criteria and feels that they want to make a positive contribution to the work of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority to apply.”

The current remuneration is approximately £8,772 per annum, based on anticipated attendance of two business days per month. The Members will be expected to attend Board meetings and other ad hoc meetings as required.  This may involve a commitment both inside and outside of normal working hours, including representing WHA at occasional evening engagements. The appointments will be effective from 1 September 2025 for a four-year term.

Applications will be welcomed from all sections of the community.  Women, younger people, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority communities are currently under-represented on DfI Boards. Applications from members of these groups would be particularly welcome.

You can access the application pack at:  www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/public-appointment-vacancies  or at www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/publications/warrenpoint-harbour-authority-non-executive-members-competition under current opportunities.  The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Friday 20 June 2025.
