    Date published: 22 May 2018

A £350,000 resurfacing scheme on the A29 Moneymore Road dual carriageway will commence on Wednesday 6 June 2018.

    Road resurfacing

The work will be carried out on the northbound side of the road and will extend for a distance of approximately 1.9km from its junction with Muff Road to the Moneymore end of the dual carriageway. The scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the Moneymore Road.

To ensure the safety of road users and those working on site, it will be necessary to operate a contraflow traffic management system for the duration of the scheme, meaning vehicles will be prohibited from making a right turn from a number of side roads. The C565 Muff Road and the U2220 Dunnabraggy Road junctions will also be closed for the duration of the works. Local diversion routes for traffic travelling to Cookstown and Moneymore will be clearly signposted.

A mandatory 40mph speed limit will also be in place along this stretch of the Moneymore Road during the works and overtaking will be prohibited.

The Department has carefully programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however, motorists should be aware that some delays can be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.

Subject to favourable weather conditions the scheme is expected to be completed by the end of June 2018.
