    Date published: 23 March 2017

A £200,000 road improvement scheme at Fortwilliam Roundabout in Belfast is due to commence on Friday 31 March 2017.

    Lane closure during resurfacing work

Reconstruction and resurfacing of the roundabout will be carried out in three phases. All work is expected to be complete by Saturday 15 April 2017.

During Phase One the roundabout will be closed from 8.30 pm on Friday 31 March until 6.00 am on Monday 3 April. The M2 Southbound Off slip will remain open for access to Dargan Road, Harbour Estate and Duncrue Industrial estate only. Shore Road traffic will be advised to use Duncrue Street exit.

During Phase Two the roundabout will be completely closed from 8.30 pm on Friday 7 April until 6.00 am Monday 10 April.

The third phase will be from Wednesday 12 April to Saturday 15 April. The roundabout will be completely closed over four nights from 7.00 pm to 6.00 am.

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors the improvements will be carried out under local traffic management arrangements and signed diversionary routes will be in place.

As with all improvements of this type the scheduled dates are subject to change. In the unlikely event that work needs to be rescheduled the Department will publicise any revisions.

The Department has planned the works operations and traffic management arrangements to keep any inconvenience to a minimum; however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow for additional time when travelling in the area.

In order to help ensure the safety of road workers, road users are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling in the vicinity of the road works.
