A resurfacing scheme for the B109 Clandeboye Road, will commence on Monday 20 May 2024.
The resurfacing scheme, at a cost of £655,000, will involve the asphalt resurfacing of a 550 metre stretch of the Clandeboye Road between the A2 West Circular Road junction and Avonlea Park junction.
This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of residents, businesses and those travelling through Bangor and is expected to be completed by Friday 20 September 2024.
The Infrastructure Minister said:
“This is a substantial investment for the Bangor area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of local residents and businesses. Work is expected to be substantially completed by Friday 20 September 2024. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme it will be necessary to implement a series of temporary lane closures and road closures throughout the 18-week programme. Exact times and dates are yet to be confirmed but will be published on the Department’s Traffic Watch website as required.
During closures local diversions will be signed with local access for residents and emergency services being maintained at all times during the works.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions all work will be completed by 20 September 2024, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
