  • Kimmins announces £250,000 resurfacing scheme for A32 Irvinestown Road, Enniskillen, between Cherrymount Roundabout and Hospital Roundabout

    Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £250,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme at A32 Irvinestown Road, between Cherrymount Roundabout and Hospital Roundabout will commence on Monday 20th of July 2026 until Friday 24th of July 2026.

    The scheme will involve 0.7 km of carriageway resurfacing and replacement off a defective road culvert.

     

    Minister Kimmins said: 

    “This substantial investment of £250,000 for the A32 Irvinestown Road will deliver significant benefits for road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network. This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of all road users.”

    The scheme will require the A32 Irvinestown Road to be closed for through traffic for the duration of works.  A diversion route will be signposted in both directions for traffic from A32 Cherrymount Roundabout via A32 Cherrymount Road,  A4 Belfast Road, A4 Colebrooke Road, A4 Edfield Way, A4 Ballagh Road, A4 Crossowen Road, A4 Annaghilla Road, Ballygawley Roundabout, A5 Omagh Road, A5 Curr Road, A5 Doogary Road, A5 Great Northern Road (Omagh) A32 Clanabogan Road, A32 Omagh Road, A32 Tummery Road, A32 Dromore Road.  Local diversions will also be in place.

    Access for emergency vehicles to the South West Acute Hospital and residents who live along the closed section will be maintained at all times.

    In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.

    The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience however, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

    During these times signed diversionary routes will be in place.

    Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Friday 24th of July 2026, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
