The resurfacing scheme extends for approximately 500 metres from its junction with Commercial Road to Edenderry Road.
Minister Chris Hazzard said:
“This £69,000 investment will deliver significant improvements to the structural integrity and road surface quality of Ballygowan Road for the local community and visitors can look forward to enjoying the benefits for many years to come.”
As with all improvement schemes of this type, to help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to put in place diversions and closures. Local access will be maintained during the improvements.
Work will start on Monday 24 October and be completed by Friday 28 October. Ballygowan Road will be closed from 7.00 am each morning until 6.00 pm, local access will be maintained. The road will be open to traffic each evening after 6.00 pm.
The Department has programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when travelling in the area.
