Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard has announced a further £140,000 investment in the roads network to the west of Armagh.

Infrastructure Minister Hazzard

The investment will be used for flood alleviation measures including resurfacing work and improvements to road and footway levels on the A28 Killylea Road Armagh between Mullacreevie and Ballycrummy.

The Minister said:

"This investment of £140,000 will have a real impact on local people, helping to reduce the frequency of flooding at the Killylea Road Armagh. I would ask the public for their patience during these works as delays can be expected and should be planned for.”

Preparatory work commenced on the footways and drainage systems at Killylea Road on Monday 25 July using traffic control signals and signs.

The raising and resurfacing of the road and footways requires a road closure for all traffic from Monday 1 August to Wednesday 31 August.

The diversion route for Killylea bound traffic is via A3 Friary Road Slip Road South, A3 Irish Street, A3 Monaghan Road, B210 Coolkill Road and the A28 Killylea Road and the diversion route for Armagh bound traffic is C188 Ballycrummy Road, B115 Battleford Road, U7008 Callan Bridge Road and the U7008 Nursery Road.

During periods of road closures access will only be available to local properties within the length of the closure. It should be appreciated that some delays can be expected and should be planned for.

Road users are advised to observe the road closure and direction signs at all times and to cooperate with site personnel in the interests of safety whilst these improvement works are being carried out.
