The Schools (Part-Time 20mph Speed Limit) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2021

The Department for Infrastructure proposes to make an Order entitled The Schools (Part-Time 20mph Speed Limit) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2021.


Consultation description

The Order will introduce a part-time speed limit of 20 miles per hour on lengths of:

  • Ballynafie Road, Ahoghill adjacent to St. Paul’s Primary School;
  • Blackisland Road, Annaghmore adjacent to Orchard Primary School;
  • Ballynahinch Road, Annahilt adjacent to Anahilt Primary School;
  • Irish Street, Armagh adjacent to Armagh Christian Brothers Primary School;
  • Berryhill Road, Artigarvan adjacent to Artigarvan Primary School;
  • Carnteel Road, Dungannon Road, Rahaghy Road and Sydney Street, Aughnacloy adjacent to Aughnacloy College and Aughnacloy Regional Primary School;
  • Rashee Road, Ballyclare adjacent to Ballyclare High School;
  • Moorfields Road, Ballymena adjacent to Moorfields Primary School;
  • Galgorm Road and Old Galgorm Road, Ballymena adjacent to Ballymena Academy;

The effect of the Order is that the current speed limit applicable to the lengths of the above named roads, shall be reduced to 20 miles per hour when a 20 miles per hour limit is indicated by means of a variable message traffic sign.

The Order will also extend the length of the existing part-time 20mph speed limit at Ballougry Hill Road, Londonderry adjacent to Ballougry Primary School to facilitate the repositioning of the signage to a more suitable location.
