The purpose of the scheme is to maintain the structure to allow it to
continue to meet DfI Rivers’ obligations under the Lough Neagh and
Lower Bann Drainage and Navigation Act (NI) 1955. The proposed works
will include the repainting of all relevant elements of the control structure,
concrete repairs and upgrading/repairing the mechanical and electrical
elements of the structure to current standards.
Having taken account of the characteristics of the works in the proposed
scheme, their location and potential impacts, the Department considers
the proposed scheme is not likely to have significant environmental
effects and does not intend to prepare an Environmental Statement.
Inspecting the proposals
A copy of the proposed scheme will be available for inspection at the
addresses below, from 26th October 2022 to 23rd November 2022, during
normal opening hours at:
- DfI Rivers Office, 37 Castleroe Road, Coleraine, BT1 35RL and
- Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, 66 Portstewart Road, Coleraine, BT52 1EY
Making an objection
In accordance with Article 12A, representations may be made in writing to
the Department in relation to the likely environmental effects of the
proposed scheme. Also, in accordance with Article 12A, any person who
considers that their interests will be prejudicially affected by the proposed
scheme may make representations to the Department at the address
given below.
