    Summary

    EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC CONTROL SCHEME – TAXIS IN BUS LANES
    – BELFAST CITY CENTRE
    The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has made The Experimental Traffic Control
    Scheme – Permitted Taxis in Bus Lanes – Belfast City Centre, for a period of 6 months,
    which comes into operation on 8 September 2025.

    Consultation description

    The scheme will permit Class A, B, C and D taxis to use bus lanes on lengths of Bruce
    Street, Dublin Road, Great Victoria Street and Shaftesbury Square, Belfast. The
    Department will consider in due course whether the provisions of the scheme should
    continue indefinitely.

    Making an objection
    Within a period of 6 months from 8 September 2025 any person may object to the making
    of a traffic regulation order for the purpose of continuing the provisions of the scheme in
    force indefinitely. Any such objection or other representation must be made in writing to
    the Department at DfI TRAM Eastern Division, Traffic Management, Hydebank House, 4a
    Hospital Road, Ballydollaghan, Belfast, BT8 8JL or by emailing
    traffic.eastern@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk stating the grounds of objection.
