St Patrick's Barracks Link Road, Ballymena

Detail

The project involves the construction of approximately 2.4km of new single carriageway road through the St Patrick's Barracks site in Ballymena to facilitate future development of the site and the surrounding area. The site is located on the outskirts of Ballymena and will provide a spine road between the A26 Larne Road Link and the A42 Broughshane Road.

The project includes spurs for access to Demesne Avenue and Farm Lodge Avenue although these will not be connected as part of the scheme. There will be a combined cycleway footway along the eastern side of the link road connecting to various existing paths and to the National Cycle Network (Route 97). The project also includes the construction of a new signalised junction and toucan crossing at the Larne Road end of the scheme.

The appointed contractor will be required to maintain 24 hour access to Dalriada Urgent Care and access to Kernohans Lane (the Ecos Centre), Castle Tower School, IMC cinema and adjacent businesses at all times during the works as well as coordinating access to the showgrounds during major events.

Economic Operators are invited to apply for inclusion on a shortlist  to be invited to tender for the Term contracts for Small Scale Responsive Works 2020.  This procurement is for the award of six contracts.

The contracts will include the following principal work activities: delivery of TTM as part of associated civils works on live trafficked public roads; temporary and permanent reinstatement of openings and repairs to defects in footways and carriageways;  construction and surfacing of carriageways and footways; adjustment / provision of drainage installation; adjustment / provision of kerblines; earthworks; fencing construction and other associated ancillary works in the following Local Government Districts:

SSN1 - Causeway Coast & Glens
SSE2 - Lisburn & Castlereagh
SSS1 - Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon
SSS3 - North Down & Ards
SSW3 - Fermanagh
SSW4 - Omagh

Note: Different elements of, or all of the work activities listed above may be responsive type work required to be done within specific time limits.

The Department has limited the number of Contract Areas that may be awarded to any one Economic Operator to a maximum of three out of the six available. The award criteria is Price Only.

Economic Operators are invited to apply for inclusion on a shortlist  to be invited to tender for the Term Contracts for Minor Improvement Works 2020.  This procurement is for the award of three contracts.

The contracts will include the following work activities: network improvement schemes; drainage installation; pavement surfacing; earthworks; traffic management; traffic calming schemes; transportation schemes, working with services / utilities; TTM / dealing with live traffic on public roads and other associated ancillary works in the following Local Government Districts:

MIN1 - Causeway Coast & Glens;
MIW1 - Mid Ulster; 
MIS1 - Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon.

The Department has limited the number of contracts that may be awarded to any one Economic Operator to a maximum of two out of the three available. The award criteria is Price Only.
