Smart and integrated ticketing is concerned with providing passengers with a ticketing media whereby tickets are stored electronically on a micro-chip (usually a smart card or other forms of smart media) and that also facilitates an integrated journey across different modes of transport, such as bus and rail, or different operators.

The Northern Ireland omnibus survey obtained information on people’s knowledge, awareness and attitudes to smart ticketing systems.
