The Department for Infrastructure is required, under the Climate Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 to reduce emissions in the surface transport sector. Transport is the second largest contributor of emissions here, making up 18% of the total with 63% of transport emissions coming from the private car. We have identified a pathway to decarbonise the surface transport sector.
