    • Charging policy

Non-domestic properties in Northern Ireland are charged for water consumed through metering.

    Price setting

The amount by which Northern Ireland Water (NIW) is allowed to increase charges over a given period is limited by the Regulator when it determines its PC (Price Control) settlement. PC15 set out the proposed changes for the period 2015/16 – 2021/22.

When setting tariffs NIW has to balance minimising the impact on customer bills against ensuring that it can cover the costs of providing an efficient and effective service.

Price changes in any given year are specified in NIW’s annual Charges Scheme and must be approved by the Regulator.
