Joint aims of the Department and General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland

The Water and Sewerage Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 gives the statutory duty to the Consumer Council to act as the consumer representative on water and sewerage service issues, including the handling of complaints and enquiries. The joint aim of the Department and the Consumer Council in drawing up this agreement is to secure effective, mutual working relationships for the benefit of consumers. It is a statement of principles to enable all three parties to discharge their respective duties effectively and without duplication.

Memorandum of understanding (MOU)

The General Consumer Council (Northern Ireland) Order 1984 gives the Consumer Council the statutory duty to consider, and make recommendations, on any matter affecting road and railway passenger transport services and facilities in Northern Ireland, as well as services and facilities for passengers travelling to and from Northern Ireland.
