    Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Lands is responsible for the acquisition of Land for Road Schemes and manages an extensive portfolio of interim estate and surplus land/property being processed for disposal in line with Department of Finance (DOF) Central Advisory Unit (CAU) guidelines on the Disposal of Surplus Public Sector Property in NI.

    Why are you processing my personal information?

    The Department acquires land for purposes of functions under The Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993.

    • We hold personal data in relation to names, addresses, telephone numbers and e‐mail addresses of landowners from whom land is being acquired and of persons interested in purchasing land from the Department.
    • We hold bank details to pay compensation to land owners from whom we have acquired land.
    • We hold names, addresses, telephone numbers and bank details of tenants and licensees.

    Where do you get my personal data from?

    From you via application forms; agents and solicitors appointed by you; Land and Property Services (LPS) (DOF) and other members of the public who may have information about land ownership in the area the Department is interested in.

    How long do you keep my personal data?

    We will only retain your Personal Information to complete the Acquisition or Disposal process or in line with our Retention and Disposal Schedule.

    What rights do I have?

    • You have the right to obtain confirmation that your personal information is being processed, and access to your personal data
    • You are entitled to have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete
    • You have the right to object to the processing, in specific circumstances.
