    DfI Roads has powers to provide on‐street parking places for people with disabilities outside or near their homes and / or their places of work where it can be established that a parking problem exists. Application forms are available on request for applicants to complete and post to their local Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Roads office, who assess and process the application.

    Why are you processing my personal information?

    • Our lawful basis for processing your personal data is under the UK GDPR Article 6(1) (c) and Article 6(1) (e).
    • To effectively assess, process and manage your application and any subsequent approval or refusal of an accessible parking bay.

    What categories of personal data are you
    processing?

    Personal data for applicants – including your name, address, telephone number, email address, national insurance number, insurance number, blue badge number, driving licence number and car registration number.

    Personal data for non‐applicant drivers - name, address, driver licence number, and car registration number.

    Do you share my personal data with anyone else?

    • The Department only collects your personal information in order to manage “On‐street accessible parking bay” applications, and will only share that information for either that purpose or the prevention or detection of crime.
    • Driver details will be checked against the Driver Licensing database, as consened to on the application form

    How long do you keep my personal data?

    Your personal data will be deleted immediately if your application is successful with the exception of your name and address which is used to keep a record of where accessible parking bays are placed. Personal data will be held for 3 months if your application is unsuccessful to allow for an appeal and after the 3 months it will be destroyed.

    What rights do I have?

    • You have the right to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed,
    • You have the right to access to your personal data,
    • You are entitled to have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

    How do I complain if I am not happy?

    If you are unhappy with how any aspect of this privacy notice, or how your personal information is being processed, please contact the Department’s Data Protection Office at the address above.

    If you are still not happy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
