The Drainage (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017 tranpose the 2014 EU Directive on the Assessment of the effects of projects on the environment. (2014 EIA Directive). The purpose of these regulations is to streamline the process for assessing if projects have a significant impact on the environment and if so, the process for completion of an environmental impact assessment. The Regulations were made and came into effect on 16 May 2017.
