Director of Engineering Memorandum (DEM) – 191/23 Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) - Screening Form

Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) are temporary vehicle activated signs which detect and display real-time vehicle speeds. SIDs are intended to be a speed management tool aimed at changing drivers’ speed behaviour.

Policy and Community Safety Partnerships (PCSPs) provide SIDs, this Memorandum applies to DfI Roads staff involved in advising PCSPs on the provision of SIDs and facilitating requests for such devices to be installed.
