Date published: 30 November 2004

The environmental statement is a detailed report of the findings of the environmental impact assessment process. In particular, it predicts the environmental effects that the proposed scheme would have, and details the measures proposed to reduce or eliminate those effects.

The environmental statement comprises two parts, of different levels of detail:

The environmental statement comprises three volumes in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB):

  • volume 1: environmental assessment – the main text of the document which includes separate Introduction (Part I), Environmental Assessment (Part II), Conclusions (Part III) and References and Glossary (Part IV)
  • volume 2: appendices – all supplementary information associated with the document
  • volume 3: drawings – all drawings referenced within volume 1 of the statement
