Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard has announced the start of a £950,000 road improvement scheme at Temple Crossroads in Lisburn.

Resurfacing work

The work to provide a new roundabout at the junction of the A24 Carryduff Road and B6 Saintfield Road, known as at Temple Crossroads, is set to begin on 13 June 2016.

The Minister said:

“This long-awaited scheme will significantly improve safety for road users and local residents.  The provision of a roundabout at this busy junction will improve access from the Saintfield Road across the main A24 Carryduff Road.

“This investment will also provide a Park and Share facility on the western side of the Saintfield Road, close to local bus stops.”

Construction of the new four leg roundabout and realignment of the Saintfield Road approaching the junction will take around seven months. Completion is expected in February 2017. The planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and TransportNI will keep the public informed of any change.

TransportNI has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience to the public. However, lane restrictions will be in place which may result in some localised delays and motorists should allow additional time for journeys on this route.

Advanced warning signs will be erected to advise motorists of the commencement of the work.
