Hazzard - £215,000 A3 Moira Road improvement scheme set to begin

Date published: 21 June 2016

Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard has announced that a £215,000 road improvement scheme at A3 Moira Road is set to begin on Monday 27 June.

Lane closure during resurfacing work

Work involves extensive reconstruction and resurfacing of a 650 metre section of road between Rosevale Meadows and Hulls Lane including the upgrade of the signalised Moira Road and Knockmore Road junction. Work is expected to be complete in September.

Minister Chris Hazzard said:

“This significant local investment will improve the strength and surface quality of this strategic Lisburn City route, help resolve ongoing maintenance issues associated with the road and provide improved pedestrian facilities with an upgrade of signal equipment at the Moira Road and Knockmore Road junction.

“The improvements will deliver benefits for the local community and visitors to the Lisburn area for many years to come.”

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors works will be carried out under temporary traffic control between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm daily Monday to Friday. Local access will be maintained.

During September, weekend and overnight road closures will be required to complete the final surfacing. Well signed diversions will be in operation.

As with all improvement schemes of this type the planned date are subject to favourable weather conditions.

TransportNI has planned the works and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
