Summary
Following the Departments Act (NI) 2016, which led to the renaming and restructuring of Departments, it was necessary to develop an Equality Scheme for the Department for Infrastructure. The draft document also incorporates a number of amendments to Chapter 4 on “our arrangements for assessing, monitoring and publishing the impact of policies”.

Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (the Act) requires public authorities, in carrying out their functions relating to Northern Ireland, to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity and regard to the desirability of promoting good relations across a range of categories outlined in the Act.
This draft Equality Scheme sets out how the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) proposes to fulfil the Section 75 statutory duties (the Duties).
A number of amendments have been made to Chapter 4 on “our arrangements for assessing, monitoring and publishing the impact of policies” in particular to screening paragraphs.
