Guide to Making Information Accessible

The Department's Guide to Making Information Accessible was developed to ensure that officials in the Department can provide customers with accessible information as quickly and effectively as possible.

European Charter for Regional and Minority Languages

On 2 March 2000, the UK Government signed up to the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. This Charter is an international convention designed to protect and promote regional and minority languages. The Department now has an obligation to meet commitments made in the Charter Guidance issued, in respect of Irish and Ulster Scots.

Department's Language Policy

In order to show how the Department fulfils its commitments under the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages it has produced two guides for staff which are reviewed annually:
