The branch carries out statistical and research work relating to transport, sustainable transport, equality, and regional planning. Branch publications include quarterly Road and Rail Transport bulletins; annual Transport Statistics reports and Northern Ireland Travel Survey. ASRB also regularly contributes to other statistics publications including the Northern Ireland Annual Abstract, Northern Ireland Social Brief, Regional Trends and Social Trends.
Statistics and research advice and research management
The statisticians carry out and advise the Department on:
- surveys
- sampling
- policy evaluations
- how to devise performance indicators and targets
They also commission and manage external research and large scale surveys on behalf of policy customers. Branch members are involved in carrying out Equality Impact Assessments on policies.
