The report first looks at the Global Rate of Road Traffic Fatalities per 100,000 population, before focusing on a smaller subset of countries, comparing the 2018 rate in Northern Ireland to countries nearby (in geography and/or income levels). Next, the trend in fatality rates from 2004 to 2018 are compared, and potential factors that could be driving the trends are discussed. Finally, recommendations from the International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group (IRTAD) are presented.
