Why do we need your personal information?

Strangford Lough Ferry Service is operated by the Department for Infrastructure under Part VIII Road Ferries of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993. This order makes provision for charging appropriate fares.

If a passenger refuses to pay or is unable to pay for any reason, they will be issued a non‐payment report by ferry staff. Passengers are required to pay full fare at the ferry terminal office within one week of the non-payment report being issued.

The Department offers an optional smartcard registration scheme which attracts a discount when multiple journeys are purchased. If a card is reported as lost, stolen or damaged, the card can be disabled and the balance of journeys can be transferred onto a new card.  The personal information provided on your registration form will be used to confirm your identity. The personal information provided on the smartcard registration form is processed by Strangford Lough Ferry Service (the data controller) for the purposes of managing the smartcard system only.

Moorings in Strangford Harbour are privately owned and are placed under licence from the Department. The Department has a responsibility to ensure that all vessels being moored within the harbour are insured.

CCTV cameras are installed onboard vessels, around the terminal building and harbour areas. Cameras are operated in accordance with Northen Ireland Civil Service (NICS) policy.
