Why are you processing my child’s personal information?
The Road Safety Teaching Aid Calendar, which the Department produces each year, provides important road safety messages which teachers can highlight to their class each week. We use photographs of NI School children within the Calendar to help reinforce the road safety message.
Our legal basis for this processing relies on your consent for us to use your child’s photograph within the Calendar (Article 6 (1)(a) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation).
You will have been asked to complete a consent form which we will refer to when producing the Calendar. You may withdraw your consent at any time. If you wish to do so, please contact Road Safety Promotion & Outreach Branch at the above address.
What categories of personal data are you processing and where did you get it from?
We will be holding your child’s name, address, age and school along with your name, address and telephone number, as provided by you and the school on the consent form. We will also hold your child’s photograph on disc as provided by the hired photographer.
Do you share this personal data with anyone else or transfer it to other countries?
No, we will not share this data with any other organisation, nor will it be transferred overseas.
How long do you keep this personal data?
We will retain this personal data for 5 years as we may use the photograph in subsequent Teaching Aid Calendars. After this period the information will be destroyed.
What rights do I have?
You have the right to:
- obtain confirmation that your data and your child’s data is being processed, and access to that personal data;
- have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- have personal data erased and prevent processing in specific circumstances;
- to ‘block’ or suppress processing of personal data, in specific circumstances;
- you have the right to data portability, in specific circumstances;
- you have the right to object to the processing, in specific circumstances.
