£230,000 road improvement scheme at Carrickmannon Road and Church Hill, Ballygowan

The next phase of a £230,000 road improvement scheme at C0272 Carrickmannon Road and C0367 Church Hill, Ballygowan is due to commence on Saturday 28 July 2018.

Resurfacing work

This latest resurfacing scheme will be along a 0.85 kilometre section of the road and includes Church Hill from the Comber Road Roundabout to Moss Road junction. The work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important ‘C class’ road in Ballygowan. 

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to operate weekend road closures from 6.00 am on Saturday 28 July until 6.00 pm on Sunday 29 July and from 6.00 am on Saturday 4 August until 6.00 pm on Sunday 5 August. Temporary signals will also operate during the course of the improvements.

Traffic seeking access to Church Hill and Moss Road will be diverted via Moss Road, Ballybunden Road, Balloo Hamlet, Saintfield Road, Kilcarn Road, Station Road, Belfast Road and Saintfield Road.

Local access will be maintained and all diversions and restrictions will be clearly signposted.

The works operations and traffic management arrangements have been carefully programmed in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.

Work is expected to be completed by mid August.however dates for the scheme are subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
