The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) gives notice of its intention to make an Order under Article 68 of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993.

The effect of the Order would be to stop-up two lengths of Sydenham By-Pass, Belfast as follows:

  • the north-west side of the city bound carriageway opposite the pedestrian entrance to Sydenham Railway Station and adjacent to Sydenham Footbridge for a distance of 57.5. metres in a south-westerly direction; and
  • the south-east side of the country bound carriageway opposite the south-west entrance of turning pocket leading to Belfast Yacht Club (south-west of Sydenham Footbridge) for a distance of 10.5 metres in north-easterly direction.

Inspecting the proposal

The lengths of road to be stopped-up are delineated on a map which, together with a copy of a draft order, may be inspected free of charge during office hours within the period 11 September 2024 to 21 October 2024 at:

Inspection of the draft Order and map is by appointment only which can be arranged either by email to lands.eastern@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk or by telephone during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm) on 0300 200 7899.

Making an objection

Any person may, within the period above, object to the proposal by writing to the Department at DfI Roads Eastern Division at the address above, or by emailing lands.eastern@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk stating the grounds of the objection.
