Habitats Regulations Assessments - A5 Western Transport Corridor (A5WTC)

Consultation opened on 22 August 2017. Closing date 02 October 2017.


The Department for Infrastructure is seeking the public’s views on new draft reports of information to inform an appropriate assessment associated with the A5 Western Transport Corridor dual carriageway project.


Consultation description

The reports have been updated following on from previous consultation exercises in April 2014, October 2014 and April 2017 and the Department has published the updated draft reports for public consultation from 22 August 2017 until 2 October 2017.

The A5 Western Transport Corridor (A5WTC) is one of five key transport corridors identified in the Regional Transportation Strategy for Northern Ireland.

The A5WTC Dualling is an Executive flagship project and would provide 85 kilometres of dual carriageway and represents a significant link between the urban centres of Londonderry, Strabane, Omagh and Aughnacloy and improved connectivity to the North West.

The consultation exercise is being undertaken in line with Habitats Regulations best practice.
